Philosophers Feast

If Hegel brought some bagels

And Descartes brought some toast

If Socrates brought a salad

Which would you like most?

If Aristotle brought a bottle  

Of really great champagne

They’d all be making merry

And surely raising Cain

If Hobbes brought the lobster

And Voltaire brought some veal

Wouldn’t that be scrumptious

Now I’d call that a meal

If Plato brought tomatoes

That were straight off the vine

And Leibniz brought a case

Of chilled Riesling wine

If Pythagoras brought some pears

And Nietzsche brought some peaches

That he got from who knows where

If Avicenna brought some apricots

And Ibn Gabirol brought some grapes

To make a full fruit basket

What a combo that would make!

If Emerson brought some barbecue

And Krishnamurti brought some Coke

And Pythagoras brought the lime juice

And also told the jokes

If Confucious brought some juices

And Lao Tzu brought some lox

And Ram Dass brought croissants

That filled a great big box…

What a feast we’d have going here

Enjoyed by those

Of mental might

Who could share their stellar,skyrocketing thoughts

And eat their fill

Well into that blessed night!
